Dr. Okafor's Background
Dr. Amara Okafor, M.D., MPH, comes to Pinnacle from the Mayo Clinic's Division of Community Internal Medicine, where she led an integrated care outcomes research program for five years. Board-certified in family medicine with a master's in public health from Johns Hopkins, Dr. Okafor has published 18 peer-reviewed studies on care coordination, health equity, and the measurable outcomes of integrated campus-based medicine. She joins Pinnacle as our highest-ranking clinical officer.
Priorities for the First 12 Months
Dr. Okafor has outlined three priorities for her first year: establishing a unified patient outcomes dashboard across all six campus services, launching a structured care coordination protocol for complex multi-service patients, and developing a health equity report for the First Coast community. Her appointment coincides with Pinnacle's ongoing Phase II expansion and positions the campus for accreditation as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) in 2027.
Her Vision for Integrated Care
In her introductory message to campus staff, Dr. Okafor wrote: "The most powerful thing a health campus can offer is not any single service — it is the ability to see the whole patient, coordinate their care, and hold that coordination accountable to outcomes. My goal is to make that coordination measurable, equitable, and continuously improving." Her focus on outcomes measurement will introduce formal 30-, 90-, and 180-day follow-up protocols for all complex care cases.
How to Connect with Dr. Okafor's Office
Dr. Okafor will host open office hours on the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00–1:00 PM for patients and community members who want to share feedback, concerns, or ideas for the campus.
